Drugstore products (skincare and makeup) I'm loving right now. Click to read.

There are A LOT of beauty products at the drugstore, and if I could try them all, I would. But alas, there is only so much time (and money!). The good news is that drugstore items tend to be on the more affordable side, although it seems like drugstore prices - especially on makeup - have been headed sharply up in recent years. The following drugstore makeup and drugstore skincare items are those that I consider to be gems, that is, they are affordable as well as really good products.

1. The Yellow Stick By CocoCare ($1.59) - I've recently re-discovered this little gem. It's a 100% dry cocoa butter moisturizing stick that turns super soft when rubbed on the skin and smells heavenly. It is an easy way to spot-moisturize without getting lotion everywhere, and it's perfect for airline travel, since it isn't a liquid.

2. NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette ($18.99) - This highlighting palette is gorgeous and gives me a great choice of highlighting shade combinations that are edgy but not glittery. It's a great alternative to the more expensive Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits.
3. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser ($14.99) - This has become one of my favorite all-time cleansers. It performs beautifully and is perfect for aging skin, which can tend to be drier or combination. It does not leave my skin feeling tight or dry, ever. It is formulated with hyaluronic acid and ceramides, which are vital in my over-40 skincare regimen. A winner!

4. Physicians Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow in Classic Nude ($11.99) - This little eyeshadow strip yields a complete, ultra-natural and soft nude eye look. It is perfect for everyday, and I've been using it, well, every day. The thing I really like about this palette is that the shadows are true nudes. I feel like a lot of so-called "nude" palettes are just too dark to really be considered nude. This one is perfect!

5. Milani Rose Powder Blush ($8.29) - This blush is so beautiful that you won't want to use it. But do - it is gorgeous on the skin, pigmented, and blendable. I've been sing the shade Romantic Rose.
Well, that's it! I hope you enjoyed the quick look at these drugstore makeup and drugstore skincare products, or "gems" as I like to call them. What are your favorite drugstore items? Is there one I should be sure to try? Let me know in the comments below!
