Some Beauty News For Over 40s (October 2017)

Last week, makeup tutorial videos for mature women took center stage in this Wall Street Journal article. The article, titled "Makeup Tutorial Videos: Now For Mature Viewers, Too" spotlighted YouTubers who cater to mature women, including Monique Parent, Hot and Flashy, and SugarPuffAndFluff. Go ladies! Definitely check out their channels.

As reported in this week's What's Up In Makeup News by Jen Luvs Reviews on YouTube, there seems to be a makeup minimalist movement going on right now, with many beauty consumers moving away from defined matte lips (think: Kylie Lip Kits, with matching lip liner and matte liquid lipstick) to a more natural wash-of-color lip gloss look. Anyone else besides me glad to see this change?

Speaking of lip gloss, a nice inclusion in Rhianna's new Fenty Beauty line is the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, which gives a nice wash of color and a high-gloss look without looking goopy or overly glittery. I initially planned to avoid much of Fenty Beauty because of the glitter factor, but I swatched it in Sephora over the weekend and it is beautiful. You might want to check it out.

And finally, this past week I reported here on COL-LAB's The Fundamental Eyeshadow Primer. It was a hit, and I wanted to comment on one other COL-LAB goodie that my ladies who are looking for a little neutral eyeshadow palette might want to pick up. It is the Palette Pro Mini Eyeshadow Palette in the shade Glam Squad and consists of three neutral shades that would be great for beginners or those who want a more natural eye look.
