February was a good beauty month for me. I branched out and got out of my comfort zone a bit, and it was totally worth it. I tried some new eyeshadow and lipstick, fell in love with a makeup brush, and rediscovered a perfume from my collection. So, what were my best beauty products for the month?
Viseart Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral Matte
When I first saw this palette, I didn't think it was for me, due to the orange-y nature of some of the shadows. I have difficulty wearing warm/orange shades with my cool skin tone, as they look REALLY orange on me. But there is more to this palette than the orange colors, so I took a chance on it and it has turned out to be my best friend this month. I've been using the white shadow as a base over my eyeshadow primer (for more on priming, see this post), the black shadow as eyeliner applied with an angled shadow brush, and the light peach shades on the top row as transition crease shades. I definitely have a new appreciation for peach shades, and the shadows are buttery and blend out like a dream!
Real Techniques PowderBleu Collection B04 Soft Shadow Brush
I love using this brush. This month I have reached for it more than any other crease brush in my collection. The handle is beveled and allows you to get a good solid grip, and the blue synthetic bristles are amazing and shaped just perfectly for blending out shadow. It was also my very first Real Techniques brush ever. If all the brushes in this range are as high-quality as this brush, I will be very happy!
Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Sangria and Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner in Code Red
I'm not normally one for red lipstick, but I had a hankering for one this month (maybe because of Valentine's Day). I have to be careful, though, because red lipsticks can look harsh on me, especially if they are matte. So I opted for Buxom's Full-On Lip Cream in Sangria. It's a beautiful true red that isn't too warm and is creamy and doesn't come across too harsh. Paired with the Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner in Code Red, it makes for a perfect red pout.
Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Multistick in Oyster Pearl
Bite Beauty has had its line of Multisticks for a while - sticks that do triple-duty on lips, cheeks, and eyes - and it recently added to the line with Prismatic Pearl Multisticks. The Prismatic Pearl Multisticks have a beautiful metallic finish that is sheer and not too metallic for my taste, and I chose the shade Oyster Pearl, a metallic taupe shade with silver shimmer. I wanted it as soon as it was released, and I've been enjoying it ever since I got my hands on it earlier this month. I use it mainly as a lipstick, but have used it on my cheeks and liked it.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau De Parfum
I don't know what happened in February, but something made me rediscover this wonderful perfume by Tom Ford. It had been sitting on my perfume tray untouched for months when I just happened to reach for it one morning. I'm so glad that I did. I'm terrible at describing fragrances, but I can tell you that this perfume smells wonderful - vanilla with strong undertone of tobacco that softens as you wear it. If you love vanilla, then you will probably love Tobacco Vanille. It is pricey, but comes in a nice body spray version that is significantly less expensive than the eau de parfum. It would be a great way to introduce yourself to the fragrance.
That's it! What was your top beauty find this month? Have you used any of my favorites and have opinions on them? Let me know!
